Description

Getafix, or Panoramix, a cartoon character in the French comic book series Asterix.

Getafix is the village druid in comic book series Asterix. He is known for his strength-enhancing magic potion. Aside from making potions, he also acts as the village doctor and occasional teacher. Asterix (and most other villagers) will consult him whenever anything strange occurs.

Supports and rafts ARE required on a number of parts. See notes for specific helpful printing tips.

If you have the proper filament colors, no painting is needed.

The assembled model is 208mm tall and is in proportion to my previously posted original Obelisk and Asterix split models.

Enjoy!

Special shoutout to maker Benoît Lussier for providing QA printing and quality feedback.

Printing and assembly tips

Printing tips

1 - Supports and rafts ARE required on a number of parts. Only one part, hair, most likely will have scarring but due to it's position it should not detract from the model.

*supports: organic/tree supports were used on:

  • head (29 deg support threshold)
  • neck (29 deg support threshold)
  • hand_right (40 deg support threshold and raft)
  • hand_left (40 deg support threshold and raft)
  • hair (29 deg support threshold preferably printed at .2mm layer height, at least for the supported lower layers)
  • robe top (40 deg support threshold. Optionally, increase the support first layer size for better adhesion of the support to the plate)

2 - There are some pieces that may need brims or rafts, use your discretion. When setting up my prints I prefer to be conservative to ensure the least chance of a print failure, especially since the base of many parts are hidden when inserted into another part. Brims also ensure that the first layer of small parts will have a better fit for my models.

*I used a raft on the following parts to ensure a clean fit, and strongly recommend it for this model:

  • clover
  • beard
  • moustache
  • hand_left
  • hand_right

3 - When removing the logs from the print bed, take care to no break the thin joining section. A scrapper would be helpful.

4 - When removing parts from the printer bed, it's a VERY good idea to place left/right parts into separate containers to help with the assembly process. Sometimes the difference between the left and right parts is very small but it is still worth keeping track of them and assembling them in their proper place.

..
Assembly tips:

1 - Take your time gluing the model together and enjoy the process. Give some thought into which parts to glue together as groups and then gluing the groups together. Let the glue for each group set completely before combining groups.

2 - I used 3D Gloop (strong fast drying) and E6000 (tacky slow drying) glues to put this model together. For both glues using a smaller amount is usually better than more glue.

3 - important for all my models, be sure to dry fit all parts before gluing.

4 - The eye_blacks are extremely tiny, but easier to attach than it would seem. Place a tiny bit of sticky glue under the eyelid and just slide the black part in position with a toothpick. There are no indents and approximation is fine.

5 - The head parts, (eye_blacks, eybrows, hair_tops (4)) should all be glued in before gluing in the hair to the head.

6 - Refer to the assembly diagrams in the pictures section as well as the uploaded pictures for putting the model together. The model is meant to be glued.

Do not hesitate to ask questions, feedback is essential to making better models.
