Game Gear HiSpeedido LCD Bracket — Shifted (2-part) + Centered (legacy)

Why this remix?

nad_22’s bracket doesn’t fit the older VGA HiSpeedido variant. I first made a perfectly centered bracket that physically fits, but that screen has no on-screen menu to shift the game image. If you mount the panel centered, the gameplay area renders too high and left, hiding part of the image behind the shell opening. I included photos of each type so you can see the issue with a centered screen (the last 3 pictures are with the screen centered).

Fix: a shifted bracket that repositions the LCD so the playable area lands centered in the Game Gear window.

Warning: Don’t use the centered model on the older VGA HiSpeedido unless your screen later gets firmware that allows digital image shifting.

What’s included

• Shifted bracket (2 parts)
  • Game_Gear_Hispeedido_VGA_LCD_Mounting_Bracket-Shifted-Bottom.stl – base piece that seats the LCD against the shell posts.
  • Game_Gear_Hispeedido_VGA_LCD_Mounting_Bracket-Shifted-Top.stl – has the wire/solder-point channels, caps the posts, and captures the panel.
  • Integrated replacement cartridge post (not a threaded hole, but provides support where the original post is removed).
• Centered bracket (legacy)
  • Game_Gear_Hispeedido_VGA_LCD_Mounting_Bracket-Centered.stl – kept only in case your screen ever supports digital centering.

Compatibility notes

• Designed for older VGA HiSpeedido LCD boards.
• Uses the original two top posts + one bottom post locations in the shell.
• Because the screen shifts far to the right, the cartridge mounting screw post must be removed (replaced by the integrated printed post in this design).
• If you have a clear shell, you’ll likely want to mask/paint the inner bezel so the shifted black border isn’t visible around the lens.
• Material: PLA or PETG (PETG recommended if your GG runs warm)
• Layer height: 0.1 mm
• Walls: 3+ perimeters
• Infill: 20–35%
• Supports: None required
• Orientation: Flat on bed as provided

Prep (shell)

1. Remove the cartridge screw post that conflicts with the shifted bracket.
   • With the case upside down, it’s the bottom-left post.
2. Remove the two smaller posts above that same post.
3. Do not cut any of the top posts.
4. If you’re installing the centered bracket (not recommended on VGA variant):
   • The inner sides of the two plastic posts would need to be shaved ~1 mm, but without an OSD shift the game area still won’t center → don’t do this on the VGA board.

Install (shifted, 2-part)

1. Print
   • Game_Gear_Hispeedido_VGA_LCD_Mounting_Bracket-Shifted-Bottom.stl
   • Game_Gear_Hispeedido_VGA_LCD_Mounting_Bracket-Shifted-Top.stl
2. Place the LCD on the Bottom piece, align to posts.
3. Slide the Bottom over the two top posts + one bottom post in the shell.
4. Place the Top** over the same three posts to capture the panel and route wires on circuit board so they align with the Top piece's wire channel
5. Reassemble the shell. Ensure the printed replacement post passes up through the cartridge screw-hole from below.

Results & tips

• The playable area now lands centered in the Game Gear window.
• On clear cases, paint the backside of the lens opening or add a bezel mask so the shifted border isn’t visible.
• Keep wire slack tidy in the Top piece channels so the LCD sits flat.
