Description
Designed this six position rotary knob as stovetop knobs for a kids toy kitchen set, but I have found it SO damn satisfying to just play with. I cant stop fidgeting with it at my desk. So, I designed a more fidget-toy suitable and ergonomic “key ring” mount for it, while also including the flat mount that can be glued/double-sides taped onto any surface(if you want to embrace your inner Tom Paris I suppose :P).
Printing:
You will need a little bit of support under the tabs on the knob-mounts(the installed knob will hide all blemishes from the support). And a bit under the key ring area of the key ring mount.
I strongly recommend PETG for the mounts for the tabs to flex properly. PLA tabs will likely permanently bend a bit(if not break off entirely) when assembling, so there will be more slop in the indexing of the knob. The PLA-PLA versions I tried printing were anything but satisfying to use…
Assembly:
I recommend putting a small drop of grease on the six-sided part inside the knob before assembly. I put a drop of Prusa lubricant grease into mine and it is incredibly smooth. But if you are giving to children etc. make sure to use something non-toxic.
The knobs are designed to permanently fit on to prevent the exposure of any small or sharp bits. So make sure you are properly prepared before pressing them on, because it is not coming off again.
