Update 3 Oct 14, 2025: Added new "Swoop" pose that is broken into separate parts and large, huge, gargantuan sizes (as well as some 3mf files).
Update 2 added images from V1 resin and fdm test prints. Overall a LOT of supports, I have blisters on my hands from removing supports for hours - for V2 I think I'll split them into separate parts to help avoid this. While cleaning them off the head snapped off on a both Resin and FDM which isn't a good sign. I think it'd stay if I wasn't rushing but I'll make it thicker for V2. Otherwise - they both look great I think the level of detail could be improved with the feathers so I'll revisit the armature / rig and try exporting a version that hasn't been remeshed so much.
Update 1: Added two more poses. The "Scrape version should be used with the tall flying base. Now onto 75mm and 100mm versions. The FDM test print is in progress and coming along nicely and I should be able to run a resin print soon too.Update 1: Added two more poses. I started my day with one thing in mind and then ended up opening this Bone Roc project again and worked on this all day. I've really started to like rigid / robot armatures and they really work for skeletons as well where you want little to no deformation. This model involved a LOT of armature work and prepping all the separate bones, feathers etc... then stiching them back to together and playing with the multi-resolution modifiers to make sure that it was all playing together nicely. I think in the future I'll stick with parts that all use the same amount of multi-res subdivisions - this was a painful and time consuming mistake on my part.
I've had this labelled as a work in progress since there was more to do but I'm happy with the variants now so we're good. Right now there are some poses in large (50mm) sizes and then the new “swoop” version in that and huge (75mm) and gargantuan (100mm) sizes. I would recommend the newest version but my test prints were on the earlier large versions - this is a pretty big model and project so it's up to you.
For printing I recommend resin printing but if you go for FDM try the newer Swoop version. If there is interest in the other poses split into parts and made Huge/Gargantuan I can do that too but I printed it whole - it was just a LOT of support removal and my blisters on my hands had blisters at the end of it.
