Remember that magnetic game of our childhood? well, we can buy magnets, we can buy bearing balls, we can design and print things so....

here it is my interpretation of that!
the model is a simple plastic bar, i did not pushed the design too far because it was really unnecessary
the bar has two slots for the magnets (i'll write down the list of things below), rounded shape at the very ends to better grip on the balls, hexagonal shape at the rest for a better handle and aestethics
the bar is modeled on the actual measures of the original game, but be careful because with that tolerance for the magnets it will be a really, very tight fit! i suggest to scale up the model by 3% and buy 13mm balls instead of the 12,7 required (you will easily find both on aliexpress and amazon)
no glue needed until it's really a tight fit, you will find also a little tool i designed and printed to push the magnets in with some "gentle" hammer strikes XD

i printed those in 0,28 layer height and placed them vertically on the plate (brim needed if your bed adehesion is not perfect), i tested the bar resistance and until it's very short and layer height very large the result is a really hard to break piece

important: as i said before, i had to scale up the model a bit to fit the magnets in, if you have the same trouble just buy thinner magnets (4x4 mm) or scale the model up by the same amount (3%), it should already be that big in the 3mf file, if you need precise measures here it is:
to better fit the magnet scale the model up to 7.55 mm X, 7.55 mm Y and 27.55 mm Z

list of parts needed:

  • 5x4 mm circular neodymium magnets, 2x every bar
  • 12,7 mm iron balls (13 mm if you scale the model up by 3%)

it's all, folks! :D
tell me if you liked this model and if you ave any other suggestion

ps: the stronger are the magnets, the better will be the final assembly, of course
