Description
Designed from one of my typical 50 foot box cars, fully printed everything except for the bogies/axles/wheels and the Kadee couplers. I designed the coupler box on to the undercarriage and also modeled a coupler box cover that is friction fit (also has a 2mm screw hole if you prefer).
I made a small mistake in the math-ing at some point and this one is actually about 53 scale feet, but I really don't care. Just lettin' you know.
Not convinced you can get a good HO scale bogie, but I'm going to experiment with tiny nozzles and tiny layers and see what happens, but for now I'm using commercially available trucks. Also, I use the whisker style couplers so that's what the coupler boxes are set up for.
I printed this with a 0.40 nozzle and 0.15 layers, with supports where obvious for small overhanging edges. Was pretty pleased and surprised I didn't need to drop down to a smaller nozzle to get the fine details, the 0.15 layer seemed to take care of that well.
Edit 3.6.22 - Updated Top with V3 and Side with V2 to correct a small error in the design at the top of the doors. Updated Bottom with V3 because I had some screwed up heights on the small cross-members. Added files for both the 50 and the 53.
