I wanted to display LEGO minifigs on my comic book shelf, but thought it looked a ugly when they were all a little uneven. I wanted a way to have them square against the edge of the shelf.
That is what the LEGO Minifig Display Base for Edge of Shelf does. Place LEGO part 88646 “Tile, Modified 3 x 4 with 4 Studs in Center” (the plate that comes with all Minifigure packs) in the model and press it against the edge of surface. The small lip of the model will keep it even against the edge. (If you don't have part 88646, you can use plates to make up a 3 x 4 size.)
Oh? What are those blue plastic things behind Superman and Lex, you ask? That is my Comic Book Backstrip MK II model, that I use to store individual comic book issues on my bookshelf.
I suppose you could print it in default orientation with supports. I recommend flipping it over. I didn't use supports (I made sure that the walls were at least wide enough that there was a parameter for bridges to attach to). The thin walls can be troublesome on their own, though, and you may need a brim.
