Two versions included: Single print or multiple prints.
Single print: Can print a ball inside a cube as a single object. Use supports for the ball, not needed for the cube overhangs (but auto support will place them there). Print single color, or multiple colors. On my AD5X this uses a ton of filament waste, so I also create a model to be print in two colors as separate prints.
Multiple prints:
- Print the ball with supports. Must be the 27.5mm ball.
- Then print the cube. It has a base plate that breaks off (this would be a great print with PETG as the base for easier removal) so that the ball will drop down into the impossible cube. You need a layer of support between the baseplate and the cube, I had to paint the bottom of the cube to get this to work in Orca Slicer.
- Pause your print at 25-26mm, insert your ball and resume printing.
- For this to work, you must set your Z-hop to 5mm. I set this to begin at 24mm, but you can use this setting for the entire print.
- If your slicer will avoid crossing walls (no longer in Orca Slicer) I would also check that setting.
