Description
This refined trick box makes opening the gift as enjoyable as what's inside!
The bow unscrews from the ribbon top and doubles as a screwdriver for the precision-fit outer bolts. Once the ribbon and outer box are removed, four additional bolts are revealed. Only after removing those can the middle and inner boxes be separated and the gift finally freed.
Perfect for a white elephant exchange or any occasion, this box becomes a gift in itself - one that's almost guaranteed to be regifted again and again.
If you use the project files these will be already set for you.
Material: PETG or stronger is recommended to ensure the threads will hold up over time. Avoid PLA.
Nozzle: 0.4mm
Layers: 0.2mm
Infill: 15% Gyroid
Walls: 6 Perimeters on Bow and Bolts for strength.
Supports: None! As long as you follow the plating advice shown in the photos or the "Combined" files, no supports are needed on a well-tuned printer.
Carefully run the bolts through the threads a few times to get them turning smoothly. Because of the way the shorter threaded holes for the inner bolts are designed, this break-in step goes a long way toward helping the box last through many regifts.
This is plastic, after all. When you're preparing the gift box, snug the screws only as tight as needed to become flush with each surface. When your recipient removes appropriately tightened bolts, they'll naturally understand not to over-tighten them when reassembling the box.
