Description

Bring the beach to your dollhouse! This model set is designed to be a stylish and functional accessory for Barbie-sized dolls.

The star of the show is the deck chair, which features a realistic folding mechanism just like the real thing. It folds completely flat for easy storage or transport in a doll's camper van. The "fabric" seat is designed to be printed thin, allowing for the necessary flexibility while maintaining a great look.

The set also includes a matching beach umbrella (parasol) with its own sturdy base, perfect for providing some shade on sunny days.

Printing Tips:

  • Material: Standard PLA works great for this model. PETG can be used for extra durability in the hinges.

  • Colors: The striped design on the chair fabric and umbrella looks fantastic if you have a multi-material setup (like AMS/MMU). However, you can achieve the same effect by inserting manual pauses for filament changes at the correct layers in your slicer.

  • Infill: A standard 15-20% infill is sufficient for most parts.

Assembly Instructions (Crucial Step!):

The folding mechanism of the deck chair relies on creating small custom "rivets" made from bits of raw 1.75mm filament. This method creates strong, unobtrusive hinges.

Please refer to the assembly photos in the gallery for visual guidance.

  1. Prepare the Pins: Cut several short pieces of raw 1.75mm filament (approx. 1-2 cm long).

  2. Create the Rivet Head: Take one piece of filament. Carefully heat one tip of it (using a lighter for a brief second, or touching it to a heated metal tool like an old soldering iron tip or heated screwdriver). Once the tip is soft, quickly press it straight down onto a flat, cool, hard surface. This will squash the end into a flat "mushroom head."

  3. Insert: Thread the non-flattened end of the filament pin through the aligned holes of the chair frame parts you are connecting. Pull it tight so the mushroom head sits flush against the frame.

  4. Trim: On the other side of the hinge, use flush cutters to trim the excess filament, leaving just a tiny amount (about 0.5mm - 1mm) protruding.

  5. Secure: Place a very small drop of superglue (cyanoacrylate) onto the trimmed end to lock the pin in place.

    • WARNING: Be extremely careful when applying the glue. Do not let the glue seep into the hinge mechanism itself, or the chair will not fold.

Umbrella (Parasol) Assembly: The umbrella is designed to be assembled using glue for a sturdy finish.

  1. The Frame (Spokes): In the first step, focus on the umbrella frame. Carefully bend the individual ribs (spokes) to their final angle and secure them with a drop of glue to set the umbrella's shape.

  2. The Canopy (Segments): Once the frame is ready, glue the individual colored segments (panels) into the spaces between the ribs.

  3. Final Setup: Connect the completed shade to the pole and the pole to the base. A drop of glue is recommended for these joints as well to ensure stability during play.

Printing Tips

  • Material: PLA or PETG

  • Supports: None

  • Orientation: As provided (do not rotate)

  • Nozzle: 0.4 mm recommended

  • Layer height: 0.15 mm
