Description
The Woom Go 1 balance bike for children is susceptible to scratches and paint chipping. The uploaded models provide protection for the most sensitive areas - the handlebar grips and the paintwork in the area of the rear wheel.
Two different models are available to protect the paintwork in the area of the rear wheel. One model is intended for use with rigid filaments such as PETG, while the other model was designed for printing with flexible filaments like TPU. Both models differ in their method of attachment and shape, but they serve the same purpose.
The PETG version consists of two parts, each of which must be printed twice. Using PLA is possible but not recommended due to its lack of UV resistance. The following materials are additionally required for mounting:
4x M4 Screws (min. 12mm)
4x M4 Nuts
The TPU variant consists of two mirrored models - one for mounting on the right side of the bike and one for the left side. In addition, the following materials are required:
2x M4 Screws (min. 12mm)
2x M4 Nuts
2x M4 Washer
The covers for the handlebar grips were designed for the grips used by Woom up to 2024 and do not fit current Go 1 models. The older grips can be identified by the white ring.
The covers must be printed with a flexible filament such as TPU; otherwise, they cannot be installed. I achieved good results with Recreus Filaflex A82, which printed without issues on an Artillery Sidewinder X2. Filaments with a higher Shore hardness may make installation more difficult or even impossible. They fit tightly on the grips and therefore require some force and stretching during installation. A slight twisting motion worked best. At the end, pay attention to the orientation, as one side is higher than the other.
The handlebar grip covers come in two variants: a flatter version and a taller version that offers the option to hide an Apple AirTag. When printing the taller version, two different models must be printed. The first model contains the recess for the Apple AirTag. The second model is the counterpart without a recess. For the flatter version, the provided model must be printed twice.
The following print settings have given me good results for all models and all materials:
Material
Rear: PETG, TPU A75-85
Grip: TPU A75-85
Layer height: 0.2 mm
Perimeters/Walls: 5
Solid Top/Bottom Layers: 5
