Description
First, thanks to Pika106 for his PIKAUP design on MakerWorld. He created a model to quickly and easily pick up several cards at once and release them at the press of a button. I could not get the same suction cups that he suggested and the ones I received had an indentation at the top. The pin that is supposed to plug the hole wasn't long enough.
My variation makes the pin replaceable. The 10mm version should match the original. The 12mm is what worked for me, and I included 2 additional sizes. If you need further refinement, scale the Z axis in your slicer (keep X and Y the same). This also allows you to print the pin/plug in TPU for a slightly better seal. (My TPU print required some snips with offset clippers to make a cleaner point.)
Finally, I added a drill guide. I must admit that the drill guide isn't a precise as I wanted, but I did get better results with it than by just estimating the center. The indentation in my suction cups complicated that, too.
Instructions:
Set "Scarf Joint Placement" to "Continous" for a cleaner print.
Print "obj_2_PKUP" and "obj_3_PKUP" from the original model. 0.20mm worked fine for me.
Print "obj_1_PKUP (Replacable Pin)" from here.
If you want to filiment swap to change colors, I printed at .20mm, then I swapped colors at 2.20mm (11), 3.80mm (19), 11.80mm (59), 13.40mm (67), 21.80mm (109), and 23.40mm (117).
Print a pin of appropriate size. Print several, test. Adjust Z scale, if needed. Print in TPU if available, but it works pretty well if you don't.
Maybe print the drill guide? I printed some for my friends and I had to throw away half my suction cups. That includes attempts without using the guide, though. My most centered hole was actually without the guide, but I wasn't good at repeating that.
After printing, Make sure the suction cup is well seated and the pin doesn't push on it too much when resting. If it's pushing the suction cup out, your pin is too long. I found that rotating the suction cup in the holder helped tne pin settle in and find the hole better.
If you don't want to take a chance on other suction cups, the ones I got did work. Here's the Amazon link to the Suction Cups and Springs. (These springs worked great)
