  • Gluing is required for assembly.

The Dart Speed Storage Semi-Automatic Shell (DSS SemA Shell) can store your darts and allows for quick reloads into the Dart Speed Loader Magazine with a press of a button, best done through the DSS Dock. To be frank, you really only need the less expensive Low Hardware Shell as this build is mainly for demonstrating automation potential as the movement needed to reload the darts have been simplified to a single linear push. Still want it! Cool!

When reloading the magazine:

  1. Insert the magazine into the hole side of the Dock.

  2. Take off the cap at the bottom of the shell.

  3. Hold the Dock magazine side up and slide it into the opposite side of the Dock making sure to align the tab to the cut-in on the hilt.

  4. Refill by pressing the button on the top of the shell and watch the plunger push the dart in on it's own! If the shell gets stuck you can manually guide the darts up, be mindful that the plunger can start moving on it's own again.

  5. Once the puck exits the top of the magazine, flip the Dock magazine side down and press the buttons to release.

  6. Once your magazine is secured, retract the plunger back into the shell and slide it out of the Dock.

  7. Replace the puck and cap so you don't loose it!

When reloading the shell:

  1. Hold the shell hilt-side up with the tip of the plunger slightly below the opening.

  2. Pull the plunger down as you load the darts, make sure you reload the correct amount.

  3. After reloading the darts, insert the puck then push the plunger down until it clicks into the latch.

  4. Close the shell with the cap.

This model also contains a travel-friendly feature where you can align the holes in the shell and the plunger and insert a rod which allows you to neatly string multiple shells together AND keeps pressure off the darts to help prevent deformations! When you're ready to reload, simply slide a shell of the rod and follow the steps above!

Printing

The print files contain large, flat models that could warp without proper environment controls. If your printer is not enclosed you can remedy this with a large container wrapped by insulating tarps and a space heater pointed towards the printer.

You can choose the size of your magazines and storage shells from a base of 10 darts then optionally choosing the middle section lengths available from sizes 1 through 20.

Assembly

Again, gluing is required for assembly. I recommend using at least superglue to assemble the mag, though for the best results use material specific glue to chemically bond the pieces together, i.e. PLA Gloop or Weld On 16 (please follow safety data sheets!).
