Description
The Cosmic Nomad V2 is a 17.2cc HPA dump tank used to power nerf blasters. While that much air volume lets you do some crazy nerf feats, there are a few instances where you'd want to use these spacers to reduce the overall volume.
I primarily designed these so that you can run your blaster at a constant higher pressure (100psi), while still having options to down-tune FPS. Running your system at the maximum safe operating pressure has a few advantages:
The Cosmic Nomad will fill faster at higher pressures
If you are using a pneumatic cylinder to actuate a ram, it will move faster, and with more force.
Ultimately, this lends itself to an increase in reliability and efficiency, as well as a significant reduction in minimum cycle time. It also allows you to create repeatable tuning setups, since adjusting your regulator to the exact same spot every time is not possible.
Spacers should be pushed to the front of the Cosmic Nomad (side opposite the m5 ports).
Spacers are meant to be printed in pairs. Meaning two, half-moon 1cc spacers = 1cc.
For most people, I recommend printing a pair of 1, 2, 4, and 8cc spacers. This will let you cover the full range of 1cc - 15cc in 1cc increments. i.e. combining 2cc and 4cc lets you get to 6cc
I have also added files for each spacer in in 1cc increments from 1 to 11cc. From my testing, the main difference between stacked (2 + 4) and solid spacers (6) is convenience, not performance.
For those who want complete control over your spacers, I created a parameterized variant that lets you fully customize the shape
The main parameters worth adjusting are:
spacer_od - overall diameter of spacer (18mm - 24mm)
spacer_height - height of spacer (2mm - however long)
I printed mine at 5 walls, 100% infill, but you could probably get away with 5 walls, whatever infill you want if your prints are relatively airtight.
Core case cap - 5 walls, 100%
solid infill, stem facing up
Core case body - 5 walls, auto supports, threads touching build plate
I printed mine in PETG, others have printed theirs in TPU. PLA will probably be fine, but the clips may wear over time.
Note: These spacers do not work with Cosmic Nomad V1, as it uses a completely different internal design
