Description
I saw a model on makerworld (credit to uhltimate) that used leaf springs for a functioning catapult and wanted to see if I could design it on my own, while understanding how every piece works and what its supposed to do, and I had to learn A LOT of new things to be able to design it but I finally got it finished :D. anyways, here are the instructions for any printers!
DISCLAIMER: I DID NOT 3D PRINT THIS AS THIS WAS DESIGNED FOR A PROGRAM CALLED CONSTRUCT WHICH ALLOWS ME TO GET A 3D PRINTER IF I DO CAD FOR A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF HOURS. PRINT AT YOUR OWN RISK OR MAKE SURE THAT A MAKE HAS BEEN POSTED FIRST TO ENSURE IT WILL WORK!
HOW TO PRINT:
Don't focus on print speed, focus on print quality, otherwise its most likely that the catapult will fail. 15% infill to ensure springs aren't too stiff while also not making the model weak. Enable ONLY CRITICAL supports, specifically for the throwing arm, and side frame depending on how you orient it.
If you want to print it to scale, use the "FOR NORMAL PRINTERS" file and orient it in any slicer
If you want a slightly smaller, and already oriented version, use the "FOR CONSTRUCT PRINTERS" file
Assembly Guide:
Note: this is the uhltimate video, and some parts like the spring stopper are not in my project, but it will explain how you should assemble the model
Don't freak out, there are 2 extra pegs.
