Shogi 3D

Shogi is a japanese version of chess. It is usually played with pentagonal blocks of wood, that completely lack the personality of a proper chess set with three-dimensional figures. So I decided to convert it into such. As an inspiration for my design I used both chess and international shogi design (the one found on lishogi.org). It took some work and testing, but here it is for all of you to enjoy!

Printing

No supports are needed! Fits on 180x180 bed. It will take up cca 170g of filament. Files are prepared in 3mf format for easy printing with minimal filament waste. follow these instructions:

1. Print the Gameboard in some light color, switching at the height of 1.00 to black.

2. Print the Figures using 0,15 layer height and brim. After printing switch to gold.

3. Print the Gold details.

4. Print the Colorblocks PROMOTED (0,2mm) and switch to the Sente color (red) at the height of 1.60.

5. Print the Colorblocks BASIC using 0,2mm. After printing, switch to gold again.

6. Print the Colorblocks PROMOTED (0,2mm) and switch to the Gote color (marble) at the height of 1.60.

7. Print the Colorblocks BASIC (0,2mm). After printing, switch to silver.

8. Print the Silver details. After printing, switch to whatever color you want.

9. (Optional but recommended) Print the Addons.

You can still use the good old stl files, if you want :)

How to play?

I would recommend you to get yourself familiar with shogi online first, e.g. on lishogi.org. You'll understand the rules better. The only change here is the color block, which is changed when the piece is captured or promoted. Detailed game rules are included as a pdf containing even some popular game variations.

Note: The final design of the pawns and bishops varies from the one in the picture. These were designed by my classmate, who's still a beginner and his models sadly weren't optimised for printing, even though they look great. Thank you for helping me. I invite all of you to make your own design of figures.
