Description
A stadium-shaped woven-twig dice tray for Wingspan (or any
board game with d6/d8 dice). Sits next to its rectangular sibling
the [dice nest tray](../dice_nest/) — same twig-bundle aesthetic,
but the twigs sweep continuously around an oval/stadium perimeter
instead of stopping at four discrete corners, and the inside is a
shallow saucer with a textured floor instead of a deep rectangular
cup. Looks much more like a real bird's nest.
Outer footprint: ~134 × 89 mm (twigs included)
- Rim opening (interior, top): 110 × 65 mm — comfortably fits a
fistful of dice
- Saucer depth: ~9 mm (shallow on purpose — dice settle but stay
visible without leaning over)
- ~1100 randomized perimeter twigs (per-twig diameter, length,
yaw, and tilt all jittered); each is solidly attached to the
structural shell — no floating geometry
- ~800 randomized inner pillars form a textured saucer floor
that fades flat-to-floor at the centre and ramps up to a flat rim
- Prints standing up with the saucer opening at the top — no
supports needed
- Parametric: n_perim_twigs, n_inner_pillars, ixiyiz,
bowl depth, twig length range — all live at the top of
twigs_nest.scad. Override with -D 'ix=130'etc.
Photos: printed in woody-brown PLA, 0.2 mm layer, 3 walls, 15 %
infill, no supports. The brown filament reads most nest-like; black
or grey work too.
