Description

This is a puck that glides across smooth, hard surfaces and bounces off of walls. To be clear, this is not an iceless hockey puck. It is simply too weak to handle the force of being consistently hit by a hockey stick. It instead can be kicked or pushed around.

You will need to print the PuckBase, PuckCenter, and PuckTop files. Make each of these with their recommended filament (listed below). You will also need three 16mm precision chrome steel balls OR three 16mm marbles. Note: Marbles don't have the same dimensional accuracy as the steel balls. "16mm" marbles can actually range from having 15mm to 17mm diameters. Make sure that if you are using marbles, their diameters are in the range of 15.5mm to 16.5mm.

Place the three balls into the PuckBase, then cover them with the PuckCenter part. Insert the shaft of the PuckTop into the center hole and twist it clockwise until it snaps into place.

Filaments to Use for Each Part

PuckBase:

  • I recommend using PETG

  • ABS or PLA can work, but PETG will be the most durable

PuckCenter:

  • I recommend using PLA due to its slick texture

  • ABS can also work, but it’s just harder to print

PuckTop:

  • Your choice of PETG, ABS, or PLA
