Description

CPSC Small Parts Cylinder & Small Ball Tester (16 CFR 1501 & 1500.19)

Combined 3D-printable compliance testing tools for U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) small parts regulations — ideal for toy makers, Etsy sellers, and 3D printing businesses.

Features two tools in one model:

  • Small Parts Cylinder Tester (16 CFR Part 1501)

    • Inner diameter: 1.25 inches (31.7 mm) constant

    • Height: 2.25 inches (57.1 mm) straight through-hole design

    • 6 mm walls for excellent rigidity

    • 0.5 mm inner chamfer on the top rim

    • 1 mm outer edge fillet for comfort and durability

  • Small Ball Tester (16 CFR 1500.19)

    • Hole diameter: 1.75 inches (44.4 mm)

    • Plate thickness: 6 mm (¼ inch)

    • 0.5 mm inner chamfer

    • 1 mm outer perimeter fillet

Key Design Details:

  • Optimized for 3D printing: sturdy 6 mm walls, light 0.5 mm chamfers on inner edges for smooth testing and better print quality, and 1 mm outer fillets to eliminate sharp edges.

  • Prints without supports in standard orientation.

Recommended Materials: PLA Pro, PETG, or ABS for good rigidity and dimensional accuracy. (Annealing recommended for extra strength and heat resistance if using PLA-based filaments.)

Perfect For:

  • Quality control when designing 3D printed toys, geode stands, keycaps, functional parts, or any children’s products

  • Checking for choking hazards before selling on Etsy or elsewhere

  • Makers who want a reliable in-house testing solution

Important:

  • Excellent for prototyping and internal verification.

  • For official compliance and Children’s Product Certificates (CPC), use calibrated CPSC reference fixtures and third-party lab testing.

  • Always measure critical diameters with calipers after printing.

Print Recommendations: 0.2 mm layer height, 3+ walls (or solid), 25–40% infill, slower outer perimeter speeds for highest accuracy.

Files included:

  • FreeCAD source file

  • STEP file (for easy import into any CAD software)

  • STL files (ready to print)
