Description
This design reimagines the iconic cube as a transforming mechanical object. With a smooth rotational motion, the compact block expands into a vertically staggered terrain formation - revealing layered geometry inspired by cliffside landscapes. Collapse it back, and it returns to a clean cube.
It’s equal parts display piece, kinetic sculpture, and tactile puzzle.
The goal was not just to make a fidget, but to engineer a controlled transformation:
Precise segment alignment for consistent rotational travel
Balanced internal tolerances for smooth motion
Visual continuity between cube and expanded terrain form
Strong structural integrity once assembled
The transformation is deliberate and satisfying — not loose, not gimmicky.
Printing Configurations
AMS Version (Multi-Color Integrated Print)
Non-AMS Version (Superglue the grass onto the bown mud block)
Both versions are dimensionally identical in motion and function.
