Description
This project is a geared launcher system for spinning battle tops.
Unlike conventional ripcord launchers, this design uses an internal gear train to increase the rotational speed of the top.
A 20-tooth gear driven by the ripcord is connected to a 45-tooth gear through a common axle. The 45-tooth gear then drives the spinning top through its 13-tooth gear, converting the pull into a higher rotational speed.
The gearbox is fully enclosed inside the handle. The gears are mounted on a threaded axle and placed between two snap-fit handle halves that can be pressed together without additional hardware.
A simple starter top is included and designed specifically for this launcher. The idea is to provide a base platform that can be expanded with new geared battle tops and future designs.
How to Launch
Insert the top into the launcher opening.
Feed the ripcord into the handle until it reaches the stop.
Hold the launcher over the arena.
Pull the ripcord as hard as possible.
The gear train does the rest.
More gears. More speed. More fun.
Assembly
Screw the Ripcord Gear and Drive Gear together.
Place the assembled gear unit into the Lower Handle Shell.
Position the Upper Handle Shell on top, aligning the pins and recesses.
Press both handle halves together until fully seated.
Tip: A small drop of oil on the gear surfaces can improve smoothness, but the launcher also works perfectly dry.
