Description

I designed this for use with Forest tiles (www.thingiverse.com/thing:2931688) and Dome Cities (www.thingiverse.com/thing:2931652), but I scaled those tiles down so they'd fit on the board hexes easier. I timidly scaled those down by .5mm, as I didn't want to risk the trees being unprintable with my .5mm nozzle. (If you are using this for other things, the hex from edge-to-edge of the "new" hex is 33.91 mm.) If you are using this for the original project, it's possible it still fits the 34.3 mm size.

You can fit 21 cities in a case, or 30 forests + 9 ocean tiles (ocean tiles were homebrewed, may post later).

I used magnets from Amazon, 6mm diameter x 1mm deep. If you want the specific ones: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076QC9BFB (these were also used in my project here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2914005 in case you were making those player cube containers).

How I Designed This

Looking back at this design-wise, I should have tried scaling the original terrain tiles a bit more. The cardboard hexes that come with the game are an extra .5mm smaller beyond even what I did. You wouldn't think an extra millimeter total is noticeable but...rnrnIt was a little messy at first, merging three identical trays together, as they needed to share interior walls and the exterior ends. Also, it was wonky matching up the lid to the base, because you wanted exactly the right amount of space for the hexes...which led to the ledges above the magnets. I like how those turned out, and that the magnets are strong-but-not-too-strong.
