Description

This is a desktop spring catapult designed for office use. It consists of a frame, a spring and two holders. We used threaded inserts and M3 screws to secure the holders to the frame.

No

Supports:

Yes

Resolution:

Infill:

100

Filament: Fiberlogy Polypropylene Orange

Assembly:

When assembling, ensure your hex keys are long enough to go through the spring as this will make it easier to tighten. When assembled the arm of the spring should be at least 90 degrees to the frame, anything more acute and your projectile will be shot high in the air instead of across from you. For best results, flick the arm back quickly instead of holding the arm back and then letting go.

The ends of the spring can be snipped off with a cutters if they get in the way.

Materials

We printed the spring in Fiberlogy Polypropylene but it may work even better in a more rigid material like nylon. We recommend using 100% infill for all parts, the frame and holders were printed in 3DJake Tough ecoPLA.

Range

A projectile can travel several metres, perfect for battles against a co-worker on the next table. A bit of scrunched-up paper is perfect as ammo.
