Description

TINY SPRING REVOLVER:

  • SHOOTING AIRSOFT AMMOS (6mm)
  • 10 m SHOOTING RANGE (at least)

This is a miniature working model of a revolver, based on an internal spring (not printable).

The model does not require glue neither external components (except for the spring) for working.

CAUTION! You will need an IRON SPRING to make the model working. Here the specifics:

  • Max lenght = 15 mm
  • Min lenght (compressed) = 9 mm
  • Max external diameter = 8 mm

Such a spring can be obtained from a common CLOTHESPIN.

Standard ammos for this model are common 6 mm diameter balls for airsoft guns, but you can print or create your own ammos as well, if you want to.

PRINTING ADVICES:

The model was realized with PLA, but it should be fine also for ABS.

The model was created for a low cost 3D printer, so the quality of my own printing is not excellent, although the model is working fine. For that reasion the project was made without taking into account any tolerance in joint and complementary parts, so any user can adapt his own printing to the quality of his 3D printer.

Consequently, some some RASP and SANDPAPER WORK is REQUIRED in order to complete the model. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Model files are numbered in the recommended printing sequence. The model is fully functional with the first four parts:

  1. Body

  2. Piston

  3. Trigger

  4. Lock

I advice you to print these four parts in order to verify if your printing is working fine.

The first one, named BODY, is quite complex and requires SUPPORT and correct orientation for obtaining a good result.

The next parts have an aestethic or accessory functions; in particular the piece called LOADING ROD is to be located inside the gun's handle, and is useful for reloading the gun.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

For using the model simply:

  • Push back the piston by the front of the barrel using the loading rod
  • Make sure the trigger locks the piston correctly
  • Insert the ammo inside the front of the barrel and push it inside
  • Aim and press the trigger

MAKE SURE YOU DON'T AIM TO PEOPLE OR ANIMALS, THE SHOT CAN BE SURPRISINGLY POWERFUL FOR SUCH A TINY TOY GUN AND COULD BE DANGEROUS FOR EYES

Print Settings

Printer:

Anet A8

Rafts:

Yes

Supports:

Yes

Resolution:

0.1 mm

Infill:

The smaller pieces need 100% infill, the BODY requires a strong structure but a minor infill is also ok

Notes:

Printing the BODY is quite complex, you will need support, raft and a correct orientation. Experimenting is welcome. I printed it vertically with the barrel sticked to the bedprint, to improve internal barrel quality.

There are a lot of matching parts, and you will need to clean and sandpaper them a lot for making them match. I didn't consider any tolerance because it should be related to your own printing quality, so that model can be printed both using low and high quality printers
