Description

The Split Fin model rocket takes inspiration from High Powered model rockets with the split fin design. This rocket was designed and prototyped for use with Estes 18mm C6-3 and C5-3 motors, and Estes 1/8" rod launch pad. The rocket is 34mm in diameter, it has a total length of 24", it weighs 120 grams with the motor installed, and it will fly 500+ feet. It is 3D printed in ABS plastic and it is made up of 7 parts; the nose cone, the body tube assembly, the upper fins, the fin band, the lower fins, and the motor cap. For reference I included an image of the Open Rocket design file.

Assembly: Test fit parts before assembly, make any adjustments needed with sand paper. Glue Fin Band Ring to Lower Fins. Glue Fin Band to Fin Band Ring. Glue Upper Fins To Fin Band. Install shock cord on Lower Tube Mount. Glue Lower Tube to Upper Tube. Glue Tube assembly to Fin assembly. Attach the shock cord to Nose Cone Base, and then add the parachute.
