Antique Toy Iron replacement handle.

The generations before might not have so abundand overcomplicated fancy functions-packed plastic toys available nowadays, but those they did have were often built to serve many generations later…

Like this metal (probably aluminium) toy iron a coworker once brought me. It has enough thermal capacity to actually iron something when you heat it on a stove for a while. And apprently was also used to apply wax layer to skis at some point.

Unfortunately it lacked the handle, which was bakellite.

I designed a new one, based on a 2cm stump of an original (all that was left), a vague sketch based on a memory of the owner (now a grandfather himself) and my imagination.

I decided to use PC carbon blend to give it some heat-resistancy (although I recomenden not to heat it again… the old solid-fuel stove is long gone anyway…), and to split it along vertical plane to allow insertion of M4 nuts and to get supportless printing.

Now another little grandaughter can enjoy this time-proven appliance!

Maybe there is one more such toy around missing its handle?
