Ultracompact set CastleChess

The set includes chess pieces and a playing field. For maximum compactness, all parts are placed one inside another. This is similar to the principle of nesting dolls or stacked chairs. I did similar projects before, but here for the first time I realized the combination of the edges of the form and the counterform of paired figures vertically, as in the works of Maurits Cornelis Escher.

The medieval image is reinforced by pawns in the form of small turrets and helmets of knights.

The base without corners allows you to print without problems, and the void inside reduces printing time.

The size of the playing field is 20x20 cm (two parts 20x10, they can be placed inside the assembled parts).

Print instructions

Printing is simple - all without support, nozzle 0.4-0.8. Printing time for all 32 shapes at normal settings is about 3 hours. In order for the figures to fit well into each other, it is important not to do excessive extrusion.

To print a whiteboard, it is best to use material without a “memory effect," such as fabric or synthetic flexible material.

There are two variants of the shape of the figures - round and square with rounded edges. Figure files marked C have a round cross-section, without marking - square. Chess rook and pawn figures A and B have a square cross-section, both need to be printed, each once.
