Description
I designed this for my 2 months old son to keep him entertained in a bed.
My wife made balloons and clouds to hang on it.
He likes it the most when it is moving, so I am already thinking about redesign with motorized spinning implemented in.
Additional parts that I used:
This design was made higly customized to a things that I already got (wooden rods, ribbons, etc.) so I think it will not work for you out of a box (out of a printer). It is more likely an idea for you so you can easily make your own design suitable for you. All the parts you need for this are easy to design and relatively fast to print.
---ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT---
As mentioned before, automatic movement would take it step further.
I am not fully satisfied with base mount to the crib. It is made to be easily detachable, but might lacks of stiffness. So this will probably get redesigned in the future.
The cross is attached by a simple tied ribbon. Here also might be room for improving safety.
Some parts are also not fully optimized for printing (round edges, not chamfered) and it can cause overhangs and post processing (you can see that in the pictures) so this might deserve rather simple optimization as well…
I can not reccomend to print it in one shot (with all_in_one file). I uploaded it just to get a slight idea of a printing time (all of the parts together).
Print each part separately and play around with variable layer hight to get better results.
In my case I needed:
45_deg_rod_junction 2x
Base_attachement 1x
Middle 1x
Rod_ending_big 1x
Rod_ending_small 4x
Toy_attachement 4x
Important!
Each part needed to be tuned to fit rods diameter. Even if you split one rod to more segments, you get slightly different diameters, which may lead to too loose or too tight junctions. Especially Toy_attachement, which is ment to be tight, but movable, to balance out uneven weights of a toys.
Please keep in mind that too tight junctions might lead to layer cracks (refer to the pictures). Too loose design (or already with a cracks) might cause unstabe junctions, which may lead to collapsing the mobile and injuring your baby! Be reasonably careful!
I do not take any responsibility for injuries or damage associated with my design.
