COMPRESSOR ADAPTER FOR JABSCO PARMAX PUMP CONNECTOR

December 23, 2022
Description
This is NOT a PRESSURE FITTING - it's an adapter to blow through an open air line.
If you have a boat or cabin or rv or anything which you need to prepare for winter, blowing out the water lines is the simplest way of ensuring nothing freezes.
If you have a PAR MAX or JABSCO pump and a compressor, this will make it easy but please use this model in the knowledge that you are a test dummy. How big a dummy depends on how careful you are when you are using it.
I have been using a cobbled together mix of metal fittings which screw into the system use with a direct fitting this leaves no margin for error if the system is over-pressurised, and something in the system is likely to break.
The printed version should blow off the air line without damage if that happens.
NOTE - I HAVE NOT TESTED EITHER OF THESE IN USE - that won't happen until September 2023, and I expect that the following performance issues may arise if you wish to test before then:
- Boyle's and Charle's Laws might be working against us. The reduction in area at the fitting compressor fitting does cause the fitting to heat. I have included the fully printed fitting and am curious to see if it works, but recommend the one with the metal fitting screwed in. Even then, I have no way of knowing if it will heat to the point of destruction of the threads.
- Adding compressed air to your water system may have nasty consequences if you don't have a tap or two open when you fire up the compressor.
- The fitting is designed for a push-fit of a standard Jabsco spear-type fitting. This SHOULD provide plenty of safety margin in the event of accidentally pressurising the system and act as a blow-off valve, and after a little use will need to be held in place so it will be easy to monitor temperature. I consider that to be a safety feature!
If you've read all that and still think this is a great idea (it is!) and you feel like living dangerously - print as follows:
PETG - 5 perimeters 0.4 nozzle, 0.2 QUALITY layer height - a 4mm brim will ensure that you don't have any printing mishaps. No need supports if you can tolerate cleaning up a little mess on the inside- otherwise supports just for the internal step.
