Description

This little door is one of a set, (details below) nicely textured ready to paint or leave as it is right off the printer.  It's designed for the first few layers to be printed in clear filament to provide a diffuser for the light behind, and clips to its mounting board with the help of a few embedded magnets.

The mount itself can be screwed to an unsuspecting tree, or perhaps just blue tacked or double sided taped in a suitable location.   At our house, it will be let into the dead bark layer of an unsuspecting ti tree along with a couple of windows to make a hopefully believable block of fairy flats.

The little waterproof light fittings  are designed as floating fish tank lamps and have a remote control to change colours, dim, or even make them flash for that disco fairy within, and fit loosely into the recess in the mount with no fixings necessary.

Thy can be found in your favourite online store by using some of these search terms:
“LED Tea Light Candles Submersible Remote Control Multi Color Fish Tank Lamp IP65”

No special print settings are necessary.  I have printed the back “mount” part in PETG and the faces in PLA in .30mm DRAFT mode with concentric top layers to diffract the light in the “window”, and to accentuate a bit of wood grain and make it look a little more rustic.  No supports are needed for either part.

The windows are most easily created by printing the first layers in clear, then changing to a colour.   The 3mf files attached should make it easy to change colour and embed the 10mm x 2mm magnets.   (Just make sure the magnets are set up with matching polarities or the parts won't hang together!)
