Description
This is a variant on the classic Flexi Rex, with some extra play in the shackles. This gives it extra flexibility, particularly in the sideways direction.
The larger slots in the shackles could result in prints of this model being less robust than the original Flexi Rex, so this variant might not be as kid-proof as the original. If you have any problems printing the regular Rex, don't start on this one before you have improved your print settings. It risks becoming too brittle especially when printing at smaller scales, so I recommend not going below 90% size.
The primary source for this model is its GitHub repository where you can find the latest updates, the model's history, and detailed instructions.
Go to my site for an overview of my other models (not all of them are published on Printables).
This is a remix of Kirbs' Flexi Rex (Thingiverse thing:1759297), based on airfish's remix (Thingiverse thing:2189652). That model in turn was most likely inspired by the ‘Flexy Rex’ by zheng3 (Thingiverse thing:929413).
Applied same tail pieces tweak as the regular model, to make it even easier to balance the Rex on its tail.
This is published as a straightforward variation on the Flexi Rex, hence it falls under the same Creative Commons Attribution - Share Alike license, and the same conditions apply. See the top-level README of the Flexi Rex repository for all the details.
The recommended print settings are the same as for the original Flexi Rex:
Expect about 2.5 hours print time for a good quality print.
Don't use a high infill value, this could cause it to become unbalanced. For improved stability, you could increase infill on the piece with the feet below it, but this should no longer be necessary with the newest model.
A PrusaSlicer 3MF project file with the recommended settings and a pre-sliced gcode file are provided for the i3 MK3.
