Cute Articulated Crab

Description

Another in the articulated animal series by my 15-year-old son.

This time we have a cute print-in-place articulated crab.

The prints in the photographs have been printed in Prusament PETG for no reason other than colour and availability of filament.

Following questions on other recent models I've included the .stl version of the model as exported from Blender v2.93. This can be imported into Blender and altered if you so wish, obviously attributing the original accordingly should you upload a modified version.

The STL file was then imported into Prusa slicer using default Prusament PETG, 0.15mm layer-height settings.

It was noted that during some of the test prints we had a couple of first layer issues where the joining rings did not properly stick to the build plate. This was overcome in Prusa slicer by adding small single-layer circular disk under each leg. This essentially creates a manual brim that can be removed after printing with a sharp knife (Please take care with sharps tools!)

Thanks to 3D Printing Nerd for the above tip.

Of course you can remove these extra disks if you think your printer is up to it. You will need to remove these from the crab after splitting the model into objects.

The final file is the GCODE that was used to print the models shown.

Happy to receive comments or suggestions on how to improve on the design.

Of course would love to see remakes of the crab in your favourite colours.

I hope this cute crab brings a smile to your face.
