Description
Model description
The 747-400 is a wide-body airliner, an advanced variant of the initial 747. The first 747-400 was rolled out on January 26, 1988, and made its maiden flight on April 29, 1988. It typically accommodates 416 passengers in a three-class layout over a 13,490 km range with its 397 t MTOW.
With 694 747-400’s delivered over the course of 20 years from 1989 to 2009, it was the best-selling 747 variant. Its closest competitors were the smaller McDonnell Douglas MD-11 trijet and Airbus A340 quadjet. In the late 2010s, older 747-400 passenger aircraft were being phased out by airlines in favor of long-range, wide-body twin engine aircraft, such as the 777, 787, and Airbus A350.
Assembly note
