Update: January 22, 2023

Inspired by @Wolfaert's remix, I decided to make a no-support version of the obelisk top.

Print egyptian-obelisk-puzzle-top-no-support.stl as-is, no supports required.

My 5th grader is learning about ancient Egypt and I was watching Product Design Online's amazing tutorial about creating those cool maze puzzle boxes. So, I put one and one together and came up with this Egyptian Obelisk Labyrinth model. The hieroglyphics are accurate and spell the words below, so this is also a bit like a Rosetta stone for learning ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics.

After designing and printing it, I placed a printout of the solution inside, closed it, and sent it to school with him.

Curious to see how long it takes them to open it and if anyone then wanted to use the solution.

My settings for the print shown:

PLA: Hatchbox
Color: Stone Gray
Layer height: 0.2 mm
Infill: 10%

Printing instructions:

Print the base as-is, no supports

For the top, I recommend supports for the hole. I use the Custom Supports extension in Cura and found the Cylinder, size 23 mm, works perfectly and is easy to remove.

Hope the print works out for you. Would love to see pics of your print!
