50s Gullwing Sportscar | Print-in-place

Inspired by the legendary Mercedes 300SL “Gullwing” and the DMC DeLorean I decided to challenge myself to create a print-in-place sportscar with epic openable gullwing doors. To achieve this I used the unique capabilities of FDM 3D printing to create a moddel with print-in-place hinges, and sacrificial bridging supports!

The model features rolling wheels and Gullwing doors that open to reveal a miniature cockpit with seats. It prints with no supports and minimal post processing: Some post processing is required to open the top gullwing door, I advice to cut off the integrated supports and ply it open carefully.

The door section is the most challenging part of the print, therefore I have added a test-piece of this that you can print to make sure that it works. This will print in 2 hours, as opposed to 5 hours for the full print :)
