Description
I am currently playing with Magnets, so I thought I could create a new tray to be used for playing card trays playing board games - nothing is more disturbing than having pile of sleeved cards which always falls over.
The initial release is for sleeved cards up to 96mm x 69mm (sleeve size) and hold a stack of cards in a total height of 70mm.
Update 27.03.2023:
Based on a comment I added an extension for each version of YACH. This way the stack of cards can be even higher.
Full version:
You can print them (file: YACH_SleeveSize_MagSize) without special printing requirements, no brim or support is needed. One tray costs you approximately 70g of filament.
You can stack several of them on top of each other. It may take a bit of force to connect them together - to be more stable. In case it doesn't fit, you may remove a bit of material from the notches.
Want to spice up your trays? - use magnets in the hidden areas inside the model. I designed it for round 6mm x 2mm magnets (like those found here: https://www.amazon.de/dp/B07RT9MY52?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1 ) or 6mm x 3mm.
For easier orientation of the magnets, I suggest printing the ‘MagHelper’ as well.
When slicing the MagHelper, set a pause at 3.0 or 4.0 mm, insert the Magnet and proceed with printing.
For the Trays, pause at 7.6 and 90.2mm. You see the indents in the center and arrows left and right. Use the MagHelper and align the arrows of the tool and the tray and it should be hassle-free. The Magnets will have a snug fit - depending on your calibration for the Filament and printer. The slot at 90.2 is intentionally higher, so push the magnet until the end (so it will not be catched by the printer just in case).
IMPORTANT: as those magnets are not the strongest (but they do their job), the wall strength is 0.6mm. Either set this for the outer and inner wall in your slicer or use Arachne. Check the sliced file for the indicated wall thickness at the area where the magnets will be located (outside wall).
After restarting, the printing, the arrows as well as the magnets will be hidden behind some additional top layers.
Do you want to have space for a higher stack of cards - Print the extension. It may feels a bit flimsy, but as soon as it is connected to the initial tray it gets more stable. Depending on the high (e.g. 2 additional extension) I suggest to add a seperator on the upper end of the last extension for additional reinforcement.
Do you want to split the trays for further different card stacks - Print the Separators. Slide them into the slots and push them through the holes in the back.
Have fun printing :-) Leave a like or comment in case of questions. If you print those and find them useful, a rating, posting of a make or donation for a cup of coffee would be really nice :-)
If you want to see different sizes, drop a note in the comment as well.
