BUTTERFLY BUTTER KNIFE TRAINER FIDGET TOY

The balisong or butterfly knife is illegal in many jurisdictions.   In some places even owning a harmless trainer like this one could constitute an offence, so print and play with this at your own risk!

The “blade” has three 16mm diameter metal washers embedded to add a little weight (you could use coins of similar size) - if you don't want to insert them in your print, turn on “Supports everywhere” in your slicer and the void should be neatly filled without the need for any other change.

The handles are printed in Prusament Galaxy Green PLA - set the perimeters to 5 to achieve a nice solid feel with suitable weight.

Assembly is easy but you will need two M2 x 6mm socket head screws.

PRINTING

Recommended print settings - 4mm nozzle, 0.2mm Quality mode with 5 perimeters.

You will need to pause your blade print at 2.6mm layer height and restart after inserting the weights.

OPTION
I have included a printable template for the blade to allow it to be made in metal for anyone who wants a bit more heft.  Print the template and button and tap a small hole so that you can screw the button in place with a 4mm M2 socket head screw.  (see photograph above)
