Description

A "tree"-style holder for the excellent Carcassonne Tile Grids at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:25158

It can probably hold about 30 of them (I have 28).
We play with the base game, first expansion (Inns & Cathedrals), and second expansion (Traders & Builders); typically using 24 grids.

Print instructions

Resolution: 0.30mm
Infill: 20%
Supports: No
Filament: PLA

How I Designed This

I actually started looking at the holder at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2739577, but it only holds 18 grids, and we found that we kept needing 6 more. So I tried tweaking that model to make it taller, but was concerned about the strength of the 4 corner pillars, so I started making more and more changes to make them stronger. After seeing that it was going to take a very long time to print, and I couldn't even guarantee it would work, I suddenly remembered this other holder at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2839630 (which is for a different type of grid), but it has a "tree"-style design with a single pillar in the middle. That seemed like it would be sturdier and faster; so I started over and built what I have now, mirroring the size and holes of the grids themselves. I then added a meeple cutout in the pillar for fun, to save filament, and to make it a little easier to grab.
