Description
This has been a labor of love for years!
This is inspired work from the original series designer Matt Jefferies. This is, in Star Trek lore, the “original” USS Enterprise. Love the design or hate the design, and in my humble opinion, an ugly impractical design, Trek fans embraced this ship as a part of “cannon” and is a must have in a scale modelers collection.
The parts will easily fit an MK3 printer and is about a 1:350 scale as is. I have found lower layer heights are best and with at least 3 parameters. The thickness of the parts is quite thin at no less than 1.25mm. The parts fit are tight and minimal glue is necessary. I have built this model at least once but as a different, earlier iteration so I am sure this kit will assemble well. The finished model is about 40cm long.
The basic instructions is made up of pictured individual sub-assemblies with a brief explanations. The pictures in the instructions are from the Fusion 360 CAD software program this model was born from. I have included a picture of fully assembled kit from a fellow modeler of an earlier iteration than this one. I included this picture because I have not yet fully built-up this kit but wanted to show that with some finesse and work, this kit builds up rather nicely. And because of the lack of the finer details, this is an easier kit to assemble, finish, paint and decal.
At some point I intend to make a video some day of its assembly with some lighting tips and tricks and will add it into this descriptions. The truth is, I got to learn how to MAKE and EDIT video first!
So stay tuned! I will have more on this kit and other kits ongoing into the future.
Thank you!
