UPDATE 7/9/23: After posting this on Reddit, I received some feedback suggesting that I add a bearing to this model and I've done just that. I'm leaving the original version and adding .STL and .STEP files for the bearing version, Thumb-Chucks 3
It's just a plain bearing, but it works great. Just like the regular Thumb-Chucks, I printed it in TPU which made it very easy to work in the bearing and get it moving nice and smooth.
You can see a short video of the bearing version here: https://youtube.com/shorts/kzJVSFuPVio?feature=share
I had picked up some TPU recently. Outside of four small tires for the Mystery Machine and a stamp, I wasn't sure what to make so I googled a list of cool things to make with TPU. Rings were on that list and I thought that would be cool, I just needed to turn it into a toy somehow. I feel like I have accomplished that with Thumb-Chucks.
I printed this entirely out of TPU and the ring is sized for my thumbs, a 22 mm diameter. I have also included the .step files so you can size the ring to whatever you need. I'm sure you could use PLA to make this, but I had made a similar sized pair of regular nunchucks out of PLA in the past and they ended up being knuckle crushers.
