Dune Ornithopter Kit Card

Kit card model of the two-seater ornithopter from Dune (2021).

Can be printed in a single piece kit card or as separate pieces in different colours, at a different scale or to replace a piece that broke. Tested to work at 75% scale for smaller printers, however is more fragile and fiddly to assemble.

Print at 0.2 mm layer height, 100% infill and 4 perimeters for best finish quality.

All pieces are designed to snap fit together, no glue is required. Some parts, like the legs, may be tough to assemble, but are designed to snap tightly into place. The front arm piece can feel loose at first, but is held tightly once the leg pieces are installed.

I have found it easiest to install the body (cockpit) pieces last, sliding them over the wings.

The wings can pivot into any position on the arms. They droop to the ground when all the way back, however this is for the best as there is not enough counter weight to hold them up anyway.
