Description
A long lost Brio toy has finally been made complete thanks to 3d printing! This model is a replacement spool for a vintage (1960's? model) Brio pull toy. Due to the overhang angles and the desire for a smooth surface, the spool is split into two halves that are keyed together and glued once complete. The pattern on the top surface of the spool was printed using a non MMU printer using the virtual extruder technique. I have some more info on this technique on my Bookwork bookmark model, linked below.

The pictures shown are all printed in PLA+. They were printed with a .6mm nozzle and .2mm layer heights. Both halves of the spool are printed with the large side down. This gives a good smooth surface on both the top and bottom once it is glued together. It would probably print better with a .4mm nozzle, but keep the layer height at .2mm since the two layers of accent colored filament are modeled to this depth. Import the spool body top and the accent STL at the same time to make the slicer recognize they need to me maintained together. The spool body bottom file can be imported separately.
