Weather Machine: Saboteur Hideout

This is a functional and decorative Saboteurs' Hideout play mat for the Saboteurs solo mode of the board game Weather Machine. The Hideout has locations to keep the Saboteurs' twelve Bots, up to eight Chemicals, and up to four sets of Research tokens. The back roof slides off to reveal storage spaces for the Agent Pink and Agent White pieces when the game is put away. A slot is built into the play mat for inserting the Hideout board that comes with the game so that all of the instructional iconography is easily read. The Saboteur's Hideout play mat is designed to fit conveniently in the original Weather Machine game box in the gap beside the player boards.

The main play mat was designed taking layer heights into mind for artistic consistency, and was printed using five filament swaps. The separate back roof was printed with one filament swap.

How I Designed This

Both components were designed in Fusion 360 and exported as .STL files to MeshMixer. Images of Weather Machine logos and icons were downloaded from sources on the web, converted to black and white in Gimp and edited, and then converted to .SVG files using Inkscape. The .SVG files were then uploaded into Fusion 360 for extrusion. For the disassembled bot, a picture was taken of one of the bot tokens from the game to create an editable file for Gimp.
