Description

As the original model was close to perfect (but not close enough for me ;)) I decided to further improve it. The red handles in the pics are the original handles, the other are some prototypes of my remix. The one with orange/black handles represents my final take at it.

After several prototypes, here are the main changes:

  • reshaped:
    • the blade tip (rounder)
    • the back of the handles (1mm longer and rounder)
    • less, smaller hexagonal holes to speed up printing
  • improved stability, usability and feel:
    • increased diameter of blade axles
    • added more height to the back of the handle, to allow for smooth blade insert
    • added more height and increased diameter of the blade stoppers
    • added more weight
  • improved assembly:
    • works now with standard size M3 nuts or lock nuts (the original model used larger)
    • works now with SHCS (Socket Head Cap Screws) instead of couter sunk screws
    • uses four M3 x 10mm SHCS and four M3 standard lock nuts

I recommend printing with at least 70% infill to ensure enough weight and increse rigiditiy of the handle. I also recommend using lock nuts instead of the regular nuts, at least for the blade joints, otherwise the two screws holding the blade will loosen in time. An alternative is using a bit of Loctite, but this is not as good as the M3 nuts are very tiny.

Print the handle_top and handle_bottom, twice, but mirrored!

I'm not gonna ask for a coffee, but please make sure you give me a like if you find this model useful.
