Introducing MK2 of my magnetic fidget line. This model shows major improvements from the last. It's easier to print, less material and modular!
Load up your favorite combination of colors and let your imagination run wild. Everything should print in well under an hour (takes me about 30 minutes to print everything at 100mm/s) Make sure everything is oriented in a way that does not need supports. The only item that needs supports are the shifters. They require a a small support in the inside. I would suggest using tree supports with an x/y distance no greater than .5.
Hardware:
9 x 4mm by 4mm magnets (or 18 4mm by 2mm magnets)
Post Processing:
Ensure that all tabs on the top are straight, if they are bent down the shifter will not slide freely.
Ensure that the holes on the bottom portion are greater than 4mm with a depth greater than 4mm. This allows the magnets to slide freely up and down to make the clicking noise. If you do not want the clicking noise adjust your hole horizontal expansion to make the hole smaller so the magnets do not move or put a dab of super glue.
Assembly:
I suggest you allow each item enough time to cool before taking it off the build plate. This way you don't risk anything warping and your items will sit flush once pressed together.
Once everything has cooled down and you've taken everything off of the build plate, you'll want to place the bottom back onto the build plate if you have a magnetic build plate OR something metal. This will ensure each magnet slides into its position and stays there until you place the cover over them.
Once you've placed all 8 magnets you'll then align the bottom cover over the top of the magnets, and then the top slides over the bottom cover where the two groves on the side are.***you will want to ensure that the openings of the top cover align with where the magnets on the bottom are. There are only two ways the top part can go on, so if it was placed incorrectly, remove it, rotate 180 degrees and place it back on***
Push everything snug together.
Place the last manet on the top of the fully assembled fidget toy and ensure that it slides freely between each position. Place the magnet into the shifter and then you're done!
Disassembly:
Place a razor blade in between the top and bottom portion and pry gently to separate the two ends. Use the same blade to do the same thing for the bottom cover. This should take very little effort.
