Description
Back in the 90's, I went to a 3D printer company with special effects model makers, and we enjoyed a fun demo of the products. One of the models - which I still have to this day - is the captive ball in a cage, print in place. With support, and proper removal of the support, you can amaze your friends with the question: “how did the ball get inside of the cage? It's too small to fit between the bars!”
This is just a very basic cage design, with a dome roof. My first attempt at this, and I may make a new version at some point. We'll see. An unintended consequence of my use of a dome is that the ball fits halfway into the dome, which seems cool to me. Maybe at some point, I'll do a double-dome? If I'm already doing supports for the ball and the dome rim, maybe it's okay to have a dome on the bottom too?
As always, please let me know if you enjoyed this piece, if you have any questions, comments, suggestions, and if you make this, please share a make here!
