Description
Inspired by the Duplo Baseplate Puzzle I wanted to print the biggest single piece Duplo baseplate fitting the new PrusaXL.
I came up with a 22 by 22 nubs baseplate.
(352x352mm in 100%, 356x356 in 101% scale factor.)
Scale Factor
Duplo (just like regular Lego) has really small tolerances. Just 0.1 mm off and it won't fit or it will be too loose to use.
Please test out your printers real printing results first (scale factor between mm in design ratio to real mm after print).
I did by printing a 4x4 nubs piece first (you could trim this one down to your liking by using PrusaSlicer). My XL needs 101% size of this print to fit Genuine Lego Duplo.
Test placing both 2x2 nubs and 2x4 nubs or larger on the test part. Also place them side by side (two ends together).
100% Scale Factor was too loose. 102% was to big and bended the baseplate with genuine duplo on.
Most optimal would be for the nubs to be 9.4mm in diameter while still in ratio to the nubs distance. 9.2mm will be too loose for example.
Printing
Printing takes around 11 hours (default PrusaXL 0.6 Nozzle, Input Shaper firmware, 0.32 structural, 15% infill, PLA), uses 435 grams / 146 meters of filament.
Works perfectly as you can see on the picture, our toddler loves it :)
