Cat Wobble-Ear Piggy Bank

November 22, 2023
Description
This funny piggy bank in the shape of a cat can be printed without supports. Big enough to hold a lot of coins, which can also be easily removed again.
An amusing thing, especially for children. Because the cat expresses gratitude with a wobbling ear for every coin. Savings become even more fun this way!
The base plate also serves as the closure of the piggy bank. If you don't reveal it, it's hardly visible to children.
The height of the piggy bank (incl. the base plate) is approximately 16 cm. The diameter is around 10 cm.
Printing information
Layer height: 0.2
- The design is specifically made for this layer height. I cannot recommend a larger layer height due to various model details.
Infill: (I prefer Gyroid Infill)
- bottom: 10%
- body and ear: 5%
You actually don't need more.
Support: none
Assembly instructions
The assembly is child's play. You only need a steady hand.
The wobbling ear
- To ensure the ear can wobble perfectly later on, I recommend wedging two 10-euro cent coins into the recess.
- Then you need to pass the ear through the lower opening of the piggy bank and then guide it through the slot in the head. You probably need tweezers for that. If you don't have any: printables.com has everything. ;-)
- Finally, you'll need two short pieces of filament to serve as the pivot points for the ear.
First, test that the pieces fit well into the recesses on the ear itself. They should be easy to insert but then hold securely.
Insert a piece (14 mm) through opening A and another (17 mm) through opening B into the ear.
Done! The ear should now wobble.
If everything is working so far, then openings C should remain unused.
The whiskers
For the whiskers, you can use some filament. Insert a few pieces into the designated holes.
If you have suitable hair or bristles, e.g. from a brush or broom, even better.
To paint
If you'd like, you can give the cat a cool look and paint some outlines. Acrylic paint is best suited for painting filament. However, a marker will also do the job. But test it on a piece of leftover filament beforehand.
I am looking forward to your Makes! :-)
