Heyho
I built a finger skateboard some time ago and I'm still super happy with it myself :) The first parts I printed back then are still alive and working like the first day.
But some people had problems with the pressfit during assembly. That's why I gave the toy a second chance and reworked it a bit.
The changes are:
1. rougher surface so the fingers have more grip.
2. clip in place instead of press fit of the axle into the wheels.
3. optimized inner workings of the axle bearing for less friction.
4. wheels with profile for more grip.
Assembly:
1. Remoove Supports and trim excess rough material of the supports off.
2. Insert the axle into the wheel without the bead.
3. Place the bearing on the axle without the bead towards the wheel.
4. Optional: wax the contact points. (See pictures at the end)
5. Guide the assembly of axle, bearing & wheel through the axle bearing.
6. Click on the wheel with the bead.
7. Repeat the process with the other parts.
Small disclaimer!: This build contains small parts. So if your kids are too young you need to glue the axis and the wheels together so they can't come off!
If your wheels come off too easily you can also glue them to the axis.
If the wheels are too loud on hard floor you can print them in TPU or use the smooth ones.
Scaling:
You can scale the models as you like! But if you do so check the settings for yourself and use a proper nozzle size :)
I scaled them to 60%, 100% and 133% in the foto :)
Have fun printing and please let us know if you have any problems!
If the bottom piece of the axis bearing comes off that is no problem! It will work as a washer and reduce friction then! Don't throw it away :)
Simply keep on assembling the toy. If you want to make it extra secure for the small ones glue the washer to the wheel with a small drop of glue.
Parts that can be lubed (with sth. like paraffin/ candles wax)
Small update 27.12.2023: 1 mm Rise of the lips to improove the flipping action.
