Description
LUN5HTIME's OTF design has already provided me (and Christmas gift recipients) hours of enjoyment.
I did run into a few issues that prompted me to make a few changes and then I went down a rabbit hole. Most of the changes I made were to accomplish these goals:
I'm happy with the result and ended up printing about a dozen of these as gifts for Christmas -and an NSFW version that may or may not make it to Printables :)
A couple notes when putting this together. Make sure the blade fully extends and retracts in the chassis first. If it binds anywhere, 9 times out of 10, it is the small tang on the blade that interfaces with the chassis and lock bar. A couple swipes with a file to make sure its flat should do the trick.
Next, make sure the firing mechanism (with the button) freely slides in the chassis. If you feel any friction, remove it. Usually it is from layer lines on the chassis. The legs of the mechanism that interface with the coil spring should be flush with the top of the chassis (you'll want to double check this before you install the lid.
The spring is a tightly fitted and should be even with the top of the pin (on the blade) when fully seated; it will not sit completely flush against the blade; this also ensures adequate clearance so the spring does not rub against the lid (reducing friction). You might need to tap it in with a small punch hammer - don't worry, the blade will not break!
**See my remix notes below for the changes.
Last notes - a little knife/gun oil on the contact points goes a long way!
